SumiBall™ is an deal filter medium for fish bowls, fish aquariums, Koi fish ponds (see link below), and water fountains.
No more green slime! SumiBalls will reduce and control the unsightly algae that grows in fish bowls, ponds and water-features during the Summer. The activated Sumi charcoal works just like in domestic water filters, trapping the key bacteria and toxins so that your water will stay clear for longer. Sumi Balls can also help encourage healthy growth in your aquatic plants.
Sumi Balls are made with high-grade organic charcoal, made from sustainable sources of Japanese Cypress and Cedar, and encased in a honeycomb ceramic shell. The active core of each SumiBall traps unwanted bacteria which cause unsightly algae, unpleasant odors and plant disease. Sumi Balls also adsorb toxic compounds such as chlorine, formaldehyde, and ammonia in a complex microscopic lattice. Sumi Balls reduce acidity to a pH of around 6.5.
The patented ceramic shell makes for easy handling, and the shape increases both filtering capacity and oxygenation. Available in a variety of colors including natural, terracotta, chalk, black and pastel blue, which can be used alone or in combination to make attractive and creative displays.
Sumi Balls are a natural, organic and non-toxic product that is completely safe for your fish and other aquatic flora and fauna. As a rule of thumb, we recommend that you allow 9 pounds of Sumi Balls for 2,000 gallons (8,000 liters) of water, and replace annually; Sumi Balls are fully recyclable as a soil conditioner at the end of the year - simply dig into the soil for added oxygenation and acidity control.
